01 What is FlyRank AI & SEO Insights
FlyRank AI & SEO Insights is an SEO operations app for Shopify merchants. It runs deterministic audits against your store, surfaces the issues that actually move rankings, and lets you fix most of them with a click — without leaving the Shopify admin.
Where most SEO apps stop at “here’s a list of problems”, FlyRank goes the rest of the way: AI-suggested fixes for titles, meta descriptions, alt text, and structured data, plus a human-review step so nothing ships without your approval.

02 How it works
FlyRank lives entirely inside the Shopify admin and reads your store through Shopify’s official APIs — no extra crawler, no extra script on your storefront. Here’s the flow:
- You install from the Shopify App Store.
One click. We auto-detect your products, collections, pages, articles, and theme — no setup wizard.
- You run your first audit.
FlyRank fetches every URL in your sitemap, runs 200+ checks per page, and returns a per-page report with a 0–100 score and grouped issues.
- You connect Search Console and Google Analytics.
Optional, but recommended. Brings live click, impression, position, and session data into the same dashboard so you can see which fixes actually moved the needle.
- You apply fixes — reviewed, not auto-applied.
For every fixable issue we generate a draft fix (title rewrite, meta description, alt text, schema block…) and queue it for your review. Click Apply to push it back to Shopify; click Skip to leave the page alone.
- You re-audit on a schedule.
Set audits to run weekly or monthly. Score deltas, new failures, and category drops trigger an email so you spot regressions before search engines do.
SEO copy lives on your storefront alongside your brand voice. Auto-applied AI rewrites have a way of ending up in screenshots that explain why merchants leave SEO apps. We default to review-first so you stay in control. Bulk-apply is one click once you trust the suggestions.
03 Requirements
You’ll need:
- An active Shopify store — any plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, Plus).
- A published theme with a reachable sitemap at
/sitemap.xml. Every Shopify theme has this by default. - A modern browser. Tested on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
Optional but recommended: a Google account with access to your store’s Search Console property and GA4 property if you want to layer real performance data on top of the audit.
04 Install
- Open the App Store listing.
Visit
apps.shopify.com/flyrank-ai-seo-insights— or click Install on Shopify in the top-right of this page. - Click “Add app”.
Shopify shows the permissions FlyRank requests (read products, collections, pages, articles, themes, and SEO metadata; write redirects). Approve to continue.
- Land in the FlyRank dashboard.
Shopify drops you on the FlyRank home tab. Your store data starts loading immediately — no setup wizard, no questionnaire.
FlyRank ships with a free tier covering small stores and the core audit. Paid plans unlock larger stores, AI-suggested fixes at scale, scheduled audits, and the redirect manager. See the App Store listing for current pricing.
05 Run your first audit
From the FlyRank dashboard, click New audit. There’s no input to fill in — FlyRank already knows your store. Behind the scenes:
- FlyRank reads your sitemap.
Discovers every public URL: products, collections, pages, articles, blog indexes, plus the homepage.
- Each URL is fetched and parsed.
FlyRank renders the HTML, extracts every meta tag, link, image, structured-data block, and Open Graph tag.
- 200+ checks run per page.
Title length, description quality, canonical correctness, image alt coverage, heading hierarchy, schema validity, internal-link health, mobile viewport, robots directives, and more.
- Results aggregate into one report.
Per-page scores, category breakdowns (Core, Structure, Schema, AI Readiness, Technical), and a site-wide grade roll up into a single dashboard view.
First audits take 1–5 minutes depending on store size. If you’ve enabled email alerts in Settings, you’ll get an email when it’s done; subsequent audits run incrementally and finish faster.
06 The audit
The audit is the heart of FlyRank. Every check is deterministic — no LLM scoring, no fuzzy heuristics. A check either passes, warns, or fails, and the rule is the same for every page in every store.

Per-page reports
Every URL gets its own report with the full check list, the failing elements highlighted, and a copy-paste-ready fix snippet for the issues that have a clear remedy. Click into any page from the audit list to see it.
The Re-run button at the top of every audit page rebuilds the report from scratch. Use it after applying fixes to confirm they landed, or after a theme change to catch regressions.
07 Optimize
The Optimize tab is where you act on what the audit found. Four sub-tools:
AI-suggested fixes
For every fixable issue (missing title, weak description, missing alt text, missing schema), FlyRank generates a draft fix using OpenAI and queues it for review. You see the original on one side and the proposed rewrite on the other. Click Apply to push to Shopify; Skip to ignore; Edit to tweak before applying.
Redirects
FlyRank watches for deleted products and collections and offers to create a redirect to a similar item before the URL goes dark. You can also bulk-import redirects from CSV, manage 404 errors logged from your storefront, and let AI suggest the best redirect target from your live catalog.
Schema
One-click structured data: Organization, Product, Article, BreadcrumbList, FAQ. FlyRank generates valid JSON-LD that matches your store data and injects it via theme app extensions — no theme code edits.
Images
Bulk alt-text generation. FlyRank scans every product image without alt text, generates a description from the product context, and queues the changes for review.
08 Monitor
Once the basics pass, the Monitor tab tells you whether your work is actually paying off. Four data surfaces:
Search Console
Connect your Google Search Console property and FlyRank pulls the last 28 days of clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position. See which queries find you, which pages convert search traffic, and track week-over-week movement.
Analytics
Connect your GA4 property and FlyRank surfaces sessions, conversion rate, and revenue from organic search alongside the audit data. Useful for tying SEO work back to revenue.
Sitemap
FlyRank validates your sitemap-index, walks each child sitemap, and HEAD-probes every entry to flag broken or unreachable URLs. Especially useful on larger Shopify stores where one bad child sitemap can dark out a chunk of your catalog from crawlers.
Market
Aggregate competitive snapshot — how your storefront compares to peers in your category on technical SEO basics. Read-only signal you can act on or ignore.
09 Settings
The Settings page handles the boring-but-important stuff:
- Plan — current plan, usage against your monthly audit/AI quota, and the upgrade path.
- Search Console + GA4 — connect or disconnect your Google account.
- Schedule — turn on weekly or monthly automated audits + email digests.
- Alerts — thresholds for score drops and new-failure detection.
- Notifications — email and Slack endpoints for audit completions and alerts.
FlyRank ties to the Shopify store, not individual staff users. Anyone with access to your Shopify admin can open the app, but settings (schedule, alerts, integrations) are shared — what one staff member changes, every staff member sees.
10 Privacy & data
FlyRank reads only what it needs to audit your storefront. Here’s the exact list:

- We never read customer or order data.
- We never modify your storefront without an explicit click.
- We never share your store data with third parties.
- Audit data is scoped to your store and isolated per-shop.

11 Uninstall
Remove FlyRank anytime from the Shopify admin under Settings → Apps and sales channels. Uninstalling revokes every permission and tells our backend to delete your store’s audit history within 30 days, in line with Shopify’s data-retention policy.
Redirects you created through the app stay live — they live in your Shopify store, not ours, so removing the app doesn’t touch them.
12 Troubleshooting
My audit is stuck on “running”
Reload the FlyRank tab. Audits run in the background and the dashboard polls for completion; a stale tab can miss the finished signal. If the audit is still running after 10 minutes on a store under 5,000 URLs, email hello@flyrank.ai with your shop domain.
My Search Console / GA4 connection broke
Open Settings, scroll to the Google connection card, and click Reconnect. Google access tokens expire periodically, especially after password changes or admin-policy shifts on the Google account.
Why is my SEO score lower than I expected?
The score is averaged across every page in your store, not just the homepage. A few high-traffic pages with a strong score can be dragged down by a long tail of older blog posts or unused collections. Open the audit list, sort by score ascending, and you’ll see exactly which pages are pulling the average down.
An AI-suggested fix produced something off-brand
Click Edit instead of Apply — the suggestion is editable inline. The model uses your existing copy as input; if the source was thin or off, the rewrite will be too. We’re always tuning the prompts, but human review on first pass is by design.
13 FAQ
Will FlyRank slow my storefront?
No. FlyRank lives in the Shopify admin, not on your storefront. We don’t inject scripts into your theme. The optional schema and llms.txt extensions are theme app blocks you control.
Does FlyRank work for non-English stores?
Yes — the deterministic audit is language-agnostic (it checks structure, not content). AI-suggested fixes work in any language Shopify and OpenAI both support, which covers the languages most Shopify merchants ship in today.
Can I export the audit?
Yes. Every audit can be exported as a PDF or CSV. The PDF is share-friendly for clients and stakeholders; the CSV plugs into Sheets, Looker, or whatever you already use.
Can multiple staff members use the app?
Yes. Anyone with access to your Shopify admin can open FlyRank. Settings (schedule, alerts) are shared at the store level — per-user preferences aren’t supported.
What if I run a dev / staging store?
FlyRank works on dev stores. Audits there don’t consume your production quota. Useful for vetting SEO changes on a theme branch before merging.
How is FlyRank different from other Shopify SEO apps?
The audit is deterministic (200+ checks, not LLM-scored fluff), the AI fixes are review-first (so nothing weird ships to your storefront), and we layer Search Console + GA4 directly so you can tie SEO work to revenue without a second tool.
